Los Angeles, Ca ( June 29, 2015) – Donnie McClurkin’s tribute to gospel legend Andraé Crouch at the recent BET Awards reminded us that we can never under-estimate the power of the Gospel. As the camera panned the audience during McClurkin’s performance of the timeless Crouch classic, “The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power” those at home witnessed several in attendance singing along. Some with their eyes closed and some with their hands lifted up regardless of their surroundings, it was evident that the roots of gospel music goes deep.
The internet and social media was filled with comments and posts about McClurkin’s stand-out performance. It wasn’t the designer wear or spectacular lights and décor of the set that got their attention, but the simplicity of a powerful song that caused people to stand to their feet.
“While many of the performances during the night were elaborate and theatrical (not to say that’s a bad thing!), Donnie made a massive impact on the audience using just his voice and the help of a small choir surrounding him. Dressed in simple clothing and backed just by a screen showing Andraé’s peaceful face, Donnie sang loudly and proudly. Andraé would have been so proud!,” commented Samantha Wilson/ hollywoodlife.com.
