LA January 8th, 2016: Erica Campbell and Tina Campbell, the history-making, Gospel megastars who, as solo artists, and together, as the multi-Grammy® and multi-award winning superstar sister duo Mary Mary, will launch 2016 with no less thunder than in previous years, as they prepare for a packed January and history-making 2016!
This week, they received a total of 11 Stellar Award nominations—as solo artists: one, in the same category, staging a potential friendly sibling competition! Among the major categories, nominations include the Albertina Walker Female Vocalist of the Year for both Erica and Tina solo releases; CD of the Year for Erica Campbell’s Help 2.0, as well as, Contemporary CD of the Year; Contemporary Female Vocalist of the Year and Urban/Inspirational Single or Performance of the Year for “I Luh God,” plus nods for its video and cd packaging. Tina’s nominations include Traditional Female Vocalist of the Year and Traditional CD of the Year for It’s Personal. A Producer of the Year nomination for It’s Personal goes to various producers, including husband Teddy Campbell, as well as Erica Campbell’s husband, Grammy® winning producer, Warryn Campbell.
Kicking off 2016 is Grammy® winning solo artist Erica Campbell’s performance at this week’s BET Network’s “Celebration of Gospel,” on January 9th in LA. The show is hosted by Taraji P. Henson. Erica is set to perform a duet with Empire star “Yazz” Gray.
The following week, on January 16th, Erica and Tina Campbell, as Mary Mary, will receive BMI’s prestigious “Trailblazers of Gospel Music” Award, in Atlanta. The show will be hosted by Yolanda Adams, and also honors Gospel legends BeBe & CeCe Winans.
The sisters have been working non-stop over the last several years, solidifying their status as global Gospel superstars, recording hit albums as Mary Mary, executive-producing and appearing on their hit WE tv originally scripted series, Mary Mary, launching multiple-award winning, top-selling, critically acclaimed solo cds, hosting, as well as performing on, high profile tv shows, touring as solo artists, finding time to schedule Mary Mary dates throughout the year, and remaining devoted mothers and wives, evidenced by Tina’s vow renewal with husband Teddy Campbell, as the couple worked towards healing their marriage.
Erica Campbell’s debut solo cd, the chart-topping Help, earned the singer a Best Gospel Album GRAMMY; a follow-up version of the cd, called Help 2.0, became an instant best-seller, also landing at #1. Other 2015 highlights for Erica included co-hosting the Dove Awards in November, 2015, and collecting 6 Stellar Awards, bringing her total Stellar wins to an astonishing 17.
Tina Campbell’s debut solo cd, It’s Personal, released independently, claimed similar stats, as it entered multiple Gospel and Urban charts at #1, and placed in the top 50 on Billboard’s Current Albums chart in its first week of release. It’s Personal garnered the 2016 NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Gospel Album.
The duo recently wrapped shooting Season 5 of their hit WEtv originally scripted series, Mary Mary, with Season 4 reaching record audience numbers. Season 5 is set to launch March 3rd, 2016.
