Show Hope Celebrates by Helping Their 5000th Child to Receive a Grant and Find Their Forever Home
Franklin, Tenn – 29 July 2015 – Since they opened their doors just 12 years ago, Show Hope, a nonprofit organization founded by Steven Curtis Chapman and his wife Mary Beth for the purpose of caring and advocating for millions of orphans worldwide, is celebrating a historic milestone. With the help of Show Hope sponsors, donors and partners, they are proud to announce that together they have helped restore the hope of a family for 5,000 children from more than 50 countries.
The 5,000th child to receive a grant is a young boy from Ethiopia who is in process to be adopted by Glenn and Wendy Drennen of Nashville, TN. The Drennen’s, who have been married for 16 years and are parents to their biological son, four-year-old Phoenix, are also full-time musicians in the Christian rock band Fireflight. Over the past several years, through Fireflight’s partnership with World Vision, God has led them to adopt internationally.
“We had no idea what a lengthy process we’d started when we began our adoption journey two and a half years ago,” Glenn and Wendy Drennen said. “After a lot of changes within the Ethiopian government we’re looking at another year or two before we’ll be a family of four. That’s been hard, but receiving this grant in the middle of our time of waiting has been a ray of light that reminds us that God is in control of our family and our second son.”
Families like the Drennen’s have been a part of Show Hope’s incredible story of being able to receive financial grants as well as help restore the hope of a family. “We are so thankful for each and every donor that makes these grants possible,” the Drennen family shares. “We pray every day for our son, and look forward to the day when we’ll be able to welcome him into our home and arms.”
