Live TV Premiere Of Single Follows Significant Media Acclaim For
Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Inductee’s First Christmas Album
Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee and Journey member Jonathan Cain released his first Christmas solo album, Unsung Noel, amidst wide critical acclaim from Identity Records with The Fuel Music distribution. Available now on CD, as a double audiophile vinyl record and at iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon.com and more digital retailers globally, Cain also performs the lead single and video from the album, “This Is The Heart Of Christmas,” today on The 700 Club. This marks the first live TV performance of the song (check local listings for times).
Cain, co-writer of the No. 1 catalog rock song in iTunes’ history, “Don’t Stop Believin’,” as well as writer of “Faithfully” and co-writer of “Who’s Crying Now,” “Open Arms” and many more international hit songs, launched Unsung Noel through an exclusive album and “This Is The Heart Of Christmas” video premiere from Billboard. The album has since went on to gather significant coverage from CBN News, ABC News Radio, Daystar Television Network, Worship Leader, Soul 2 Soul Radio, The Christian Beat, Broadway World, Jesus Wired, Catholic Mom, Today’s Christian Entertainment, and many more.
CCM Magazine says in its 4-star review of the album, “Cain strikes just the right balance between originals, obscurities and seasonal standards, giving Journey, AOR and contemporary Christian music fans an eloquent refresher about the true reason for the season.” GigSalad lauds, “Unsung Noel adds originality to familiar holiday themes, and scores the Christmas story in a way that only a legend like Jonathan Cain could.”
NewReleaseToday calls the album “a fulfilling Christmas journey” and adds in its 4-star review, “This is one of the most commendable Christmas records of recent years…Don’t stop believing that Christmas music can be artistically driven, because Jonathan Cain has delivered a fine and much-needed collection of Christmas worship.” The Sun Herald concurs, “Journey’s Jonathan Cain’s first Christmas album is ‘worlds apart’ from normal holiday fare.” Cross Rhythms continues, “There is no doubting Jonathan Cain is an exceptional songwriter and this record proves to be one of the strongest Christmas releases of the season.”
Produced and arranged by Cain and recorded at his state-of-the-art Addiction Sound Studios in Nashville, the 14-track Unsung Noel features 10 original songs written by Cain and takes listeners on a journey through classics like “Angels We Have Heard On High,” “Oh Holy Night” and “Do You Hear What I Hear,” as well as Matt Redman’s “Light Of The World.”
Cain began to lay the foundation for the new Christmas album following the release of What God Wants To Hear, his critically acclaimed solo album that impacted Christian music charts and garnered invitations to perform at such celebrated events as Liberty University Convocation, North America’s largest weekly gathering of Christian students, and at the President’s Christian Inaugural Gala in Washington, D.C.
In addition to Unsung Noel, Cain will release his first book spring 2018, a memoir with Zondervan (title tba). The first book from a member of Journey, Cain will share his personal story and path to faith as well as behind-the-scenes stories of his 36-year career with the band.
As Cain continues to tour the world with Journey, one of the most popular American rock bands of all time that was ushered into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year, fans can keep up with the latest from him at http://jonathancainmusic.com/, Addiction Sound, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
