On Monday, August 11th, Christian music pioneer Chuck Girard officially passed after a battle with cancer at the age of 81.
Chuck first became a Christian in 1970 while attending Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa, California. He went on to play a major part in the Jesus Movement, helping to create and shape today’s Christian music landscape.
He was a member of the group Love Song who were known for songs like ‘Since I Opened Up the Door’ and ‘Two Hands’ before starting his own solo career. Over the years, Chuck has toured the world and appeared with Billy Graham, and on “700 Club”, “Trinity Broadcasting Network”, and other television shows worldwide.
Girard is survived by his wife, Karen, four daughters, four granddaughters, and two grandsons. His daughter Alisa Childers is a Christian apologist and former member of the band ZOEgirl.
CCM recently shared a touching tribute to Girard with thoughts from his family and friends. You can read that now right HERE.
