Originally featured on Stevenson’s Fresh Start album, “Eye of the Storm” became a breakout hit in 2016, reaching No. 1 on both the Billboard Hot Christian Songs and Christian Airplay charts and remaining at the top of Christian radio for 16 weeks. The song went on to win Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year at the 2017 GMA Dove Awards, while also earning a Dove Award nomination for Song of the Year, a Billboard Music Award nomination for Top Christian Song and two K-LOVE Fan Award nominations.
A decade later, the song has reached another major milestone with its RIAA Platinum certification, further underscoring its enduring connection with listeners. Stevenson celebrated the achievement with a special Platinum celebration at Gotee Records in Franklin, Tennessee, honoring both the certification and a decade of impact for the career-defining song.
For the new rendition, Stevenson revisits the anthem alongside the next generation, creating a meaningful full-circle tribute version to the original recording, which featured the late GabeReal (Gabe Patillo). The new kids' version features Stevenson and Patillo’s children, adding a deeply personal and multigenerational dimension to the song while preserving the message that first resonated with listeners 10 years ago.
The anniversary celebration will continue this fall as Stevenson heads out on a special “Eye of the Storm” 10th Anniversary Tour, running September 30 through October 18. The limited run will give audiences an opportunity to celebrate the music, memories, and stories surrounding the song, along with fan favorites from Stevenson’s career. Tour dates and ticket information are available here.
“Eye of the Storm” remains one of the defining songs of Stevenson’s career and a testament to a message that continues to meet listeners in every season: even when circumstances feel uncertain, God remains steady in the midst of the storm.
