The group is set to launch a single next month, as well as a tour this fall. Research Educational Foundation, Inc., the nonprofit owner/operator of Christian rock – formatted KVRK 89.7 FM, Dallas has announced that they have entered into an agreement to sell the station to WAY Media. The station signed on the air in 1999. Dallas will be the largest market for Colorado Springs-based WAY-FM, which was founded in the late 1980’s by Bob and Felice Augsburg.

Newsboys’ iconic anthem, “God’s Not Dead (Like A Lion),” the title-cut from the group’s 2011 best-selling Inpop recording, has been certified Platinum® by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), it was recently announced. Signifying single sales in excess of 1 million units, the award marks a career milestone for the GRAMMY®-nominated mega group and is one of the first Platinum® single certifications in Christian music this year.
Platinum-selling group Hillsong UNITED has a lot to celebrate this month as they release a new album, EMPIRES (Hillsong Music/Capitol CMG) May 26, and a highly-anticipated film, Hillsong — Let Hope Rise (Relativity Studios) just a few days later on May 29. Thousand Foot Krutch frontman Trevor McNevan recently revealed on social media the humble beginnings that led to the foundation of TFK. At age 16, he took money he earned at his part time job at McDonald’s and invested it in 27 songs he recorded for the now out-of-print album, Shutterbug, by his band Oddball. McDonald’s found McNevan’s post and tweeted, “@TFKTrevor …we’re Lovin’ this #TBT. Inspiration for us all.”

Lairsey has been with WAY-FM for the past 4 years, most recently as Operations Director for WAY-FM Nashville. Prior to that, he spent 8 years at Hook FM in Valdosta, Georgia.
The GMA (Gospel Music Association) held their 2nd Annual GMA Honors celebration at Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena on Tuesday evening with special tributes, reunions and praise to the honorees and inductees. The event was in celebration of the individuals and organizations that impact the culture through gospel music both past and present and is set to air on JUCE TV on Friday, June 5th at 7pm PST / 10pm EST and Saturday, June 6th at 12pm PST / 3pm EST. The third-annual GMA Honors ceremony date has also been announced for May 10, 2016.

Provident Label Group pop/rock band Building 429 has officially broken a radio record. Their brand new single, “Impossible,” received an astounding 95 radio adds on add date, making this an all time first for the band. This is also the highest number of adds its first week ever for a Provident Label Group artist. This radio feat hasn’t been achieved since “Free To Be Me” by Fancesca Battistelli in 2008.
Raucous, award-winning band The City Harmonic, known for its eclectic modern hymns and worship anthems of longing, hope and celebration, will be the featured music guest during “Beyond A.D.” streaming on NBC.com Sunday, May 3. During the episode, The City Harmonic will reveal the title and album cover for their third full-length album, as well as play live the first single from the new recording set to release through Integrity Music September 2015. The album addresses issues of church unity, a topic also covered in this “Beyond A.D” episode by fellow guest, John Gray, Associate Pastor at Houston’s Lakewood Church.
Grammy-nominated and Dove Award winning pop/rock group, Building 429, has reached another major career milestone with one-million single sales. A special plaque presentation was held at with Provident Label Group in honor of the group’s incredible achievement. Building 429 has achieved landmark radio success, including the history making single, “Where I Belong.” Provident Label Group’s Senior Vice President, Dean Diehl praised the group for its music ministry and accomplishments.
Lipscomb University recently announced the formation of a School of Music that will expand its existing classical music program to include contemporary music undergraduate programs. The reorganization will allow the school to tap into industry resources available in Nashville as well as provide skilled professionals to help fill job demand.
