Dear Artists & Friends of Porter’s Call,
Al Andrews here. I’m writing you this letter today to announce the addition of a new porter at Porter’s Call. Janice Gaines joined our staff on February 1, 2021 as our very first Porter Apprentice.
She’s been a friend for years, so her arrival here seems quite natural. She already feels like family, and even laughs at our jokes and stories, which in our world is a critical trait!
Janice comes to us with life experiences that make her a perfect fit for what we do here. She’s a recording artist, a writer, a speaker, a mentor and a teacher with a heart for reconciliation.
In 2019, fueled by her passion to better equip people to have honest conversations about race, she developed “Braving the Deep,” a guided curriculum on diversity and racial reconciliation. With it, she regularly trains individuals, corporations, churches and other organizations to engage with one another about diversity, inclusion and belonging, and to implement effective change. And now she brings this passion to Porter’s Call.
Janice lives in Franklin with her husband and two young sons.
I’m so glad to introduce you to her today and can’t wait for you to meet her. Janice has written a message for you to read below. If you want to give her a word of welcome, her email is janice@porterscall.com.
All the best,
Al
On behalf of the staff & board of Porter’s Call
Dear Friends of Porter’s Call,
I am excited to join the team in walking alongside the artist community towards health and wholeness. My passion in all that I do, whether as an artist or speaker, has always included leading people to healing that I, myself, have received first.
Over the past several years, I have found tremendous joy in walking with people on their journeys toward healing. From mentoring young women as they grow into adulthood to helping people to have meaningful conversations surrounding diversity and racial reconciliation, I have been fortunate to see lives transformed.
As someone who benefitted from the services of Porter’s Call before, I know how life-changing walking through these doors can be. I am honored to be a part of such a haven of safety, redemption and transformation. I am grateful for the support of my husband, EJ Gaines, and our two young sons, Gabriel and Benjamin, in this endeavor.
I look forward to meeting you very soon!
Janice
