Houston, TX – Despite the COVID-19 pandemic wiping out graduation ceremonies across the nation, some high school students in Houston and Austin had reason to celebrate. Six-time GRAMMY® nominee Tauren Wells, Lakewood Young Adults, and Christian Life teamed up with KSBJ and NGEN (Houston) and KFMK (Austin) to gift six lucky high school graduates $1,000 each to help with college tuition and textbooks. Tauren, a Houston-based award-winning artist, worship leader and youth leader, jumped at the opportunity to give back to his community and support these intelligent and inspiring future leaders.
“We just wanted to let the Class of 2020 know that we are with them and we are for them,” Tauren says. “We did for some what we wished to do for all and hope all the graduates out there know that their hard work and effort hasn’t been overlooked. We expect amazing things from these students in the future!”
The “Senior Surprises with Tauren Wells” promotion called for parents in the Houston and Austin area to submit names, future plans, favorite Tauren Wells song, and a nomination essay on behalf of their high school graduates for consideration to receive the $1,000 gift. The winners were presented with checks in special surprise ceremonies as their parents proudly looked on – watch the video

In support of all high school seniors that were not able to celebrate graduation this year, Tauren released a live, stripped-down version of Shawn Mendez’s popular track “Youth,” featuring frequent collaborator Davies. Click
