Founder and CEO, Barry Neil Shrum, Esq., has been practicing law for over 30 years, starting as a “Philadelphia lawyer” in the litigation department of a mid-sized Center City firm and then going in- house as counsel to a Fortune 50 conglomerate, all the while honing his legal skills to fulfill his goal of defending the rights of under-represented musicians, songwriters, and artists. In 1996, he decided to return to his home and roots in Tennessee, to build a practice on world famous “Music Row,” the heart of Music City. Mr. Shrum has been identified as one of “America’s Premier Entertainment Attorneys” and is also known as the “Shark’s lawyer” because of his representation of “Shark Tank” member, Daymond John. Since 2009, Shrum has been a professor at the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business at Belmont University in Nashville, teaching Entertainment Law & Licensing, Copyright Law, Cyber Law, Music Publishing, and Legal Issues in the Entertainment Industry. Shrum received his Juris Doctorate from Delaware Law School at Widener University and holds a BA and MA from Lipscomb University. Dennis Disney, Esq., is a 39-year veteran of the music and entertainment industry, having started at the ground level, beginning as a studio engineer while completing his undergraduate degree. Over his career, he’s held executive positions at various entertainment companies, including his own marketing agency, record labels, artist management firms, and book publishers. Prior to forming Shrum Disney & Associates, Disney was Chief Operating Officer at Maximum Artist Group, LLC, overseeing company operations, business and legal affairs, and strategic planning for each of the firm’s clients. From August 2009 through May 2018, he was an Adjunct Professor at the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business at Belmont University where he taught Entertainment Distribution and Promotion. Disney holds a BA in Music Business from Belmont University and a Juris Doctorate from Nashville School of Law.
