Ahmaud Arbery. Followed, shot and killed by 2 men while out for a run around the neighborhood. An on-going investigation with no arrests. If the roles were reversed, the shooters would be in jail RIGHT NOW. God let justice run like a river. My prayers are with the Arbery family. America, we have a problem. Who will raise their voice?

I’ve been trying to process for years. Sometimes I think I’ve just understood it’s is what it is and other days I’m just confused at why it is what it is….today I’m just tired. Racism and the way people are treated are so real and I want the church to speak up. Yes there are good cops and good people in this world… shoot I have family members that are cops. BUT THIS DOES NOT GIVE US AN REASON TO NOT HAVE A HEART AND COMPASSION TOWARD ANOTHER HUMAN BEINGS LIFE! I see a lot of Christians wanting to put their political views first before what they actually believe of this great gospel Jesus has given us. My heart is heavy for Ahmaud Arbery today, this is horrible.

I can’t say all that I feel. I can’t express how it feels. I don’t feel the grace to “defend” to those who don’t have a sense of empathy, compassion or humanity, why I feel the way I feel. Sometimes it feels hopeless honestly. Yet here we are. Another one…Whenever I faced, experienced or saw injustice, my mom was always quick to remind me that men aren’t the only ones watching. God sees. I know without a doubt that there will be justice at some point, even if we don’t see it with our own eyes. Spilled blood speaks and God listens.

When I was 15 I was spending the night at a friends house and decided to go jogging. He lived in a neighborhood I knew to be pretty racist but really didn’t think nothing of a quick night time run. While out running a truck passed me and I heard them suddenly slam on their brakes and yell “GET THAT N*****!” Next thing I know the truck jumps the curb and they began speeding towards me!!! I had to cut across into a ditch where train tracks were so they couldn’t follow! It was the first and only time someone made me fear for my life…..I was 15…..the world still hasn’t changed…?? ? #ahmaudarbery

We have a great hope in Jesus but this world still hurts so deeply. Broken for the family of Ahmaud Arbery. They’ve lost a son and the future of someone they loved. This is so senseless and sickening. Angry but praying for healing and justice. God help us all.

I’m supposed to have something inspiring to say… I’m supposed to find the light at the end of this tunnel..but the truth is, IM TIRED, angry, frustrated, and completely done with being in THIS tunnel. As a black man, I can not sit idly by. I read the story. I couldn’t watch the video. I’m tired of seeing this be allowed. By anyone. What did Ahmaud Arbery do wrong? Went running? They expect us to just allow this. To shake our heads and go back to life as normal. To be too distracted with our own lives to do anything because “it’s not my people, my brother, my loved one”…this time. My earnest prayers are with this mans family. I’m tired of this… We can not do nothing. This can not be allowed to be ok.

I have been heartbroken and sickened over the news that this young man, Ahmaud Arbery, was murdered while jogging. Jogging. I go jogging most days. I don’t think twice about walking out of my front door, turning right, and jogging. It has never once occurred to me that I may not come back home. After living in the USA for a decade, I realize this is not everyone’s reality. I have come to understand that for a black person, a simple thing like jogging can be fatal. This is wrong. This must stop. Our family moved to the USA 10 years ago and over that time became exposed to the racial disparities that exist within this country. Even though I had visited the USA dozens of times before we moved here, I never truly understood the reality of the situation until I lived here. I have personally been so profoundly impacted by, ministered to, and have had my preaching shaped by the black Church, that it was initially inconceivable to me such disparities would exist. I had lived in, and experienced a much different reality. About two years ago, I embarked on an intentional journey of education and empathy. I have read literally dozens of books, visited the National Museum of African American History and Culture, have had many, many, conversations, and have wept a lot. There is no denying the reality of the pain that has been reverberated throughout generations of Black Americans. It is devastating. I am no expert or authority on this, but I have a heart to do whatever I can to see real change take place. In some ways I feel so inadequate, but after years of work with @a21 I know that small steps forward can make a huge difference. I want to invite you to go on a journey of learning, hearing, and healing with me. I am asking some of my dear friends how to do this best. I am committed to helping equip us to do our part in bringing change, in Jesus name. Today, we can each call and demand justice for Ahmaud Arbery. We can grieve. We can say his name out loud to those in our spheres of influence. We can pray. What we cannot do is look away and do nothing. #ahmaudarbery #justice
