Celebration Concerts, Founded by Jon Robberson, Celebrates 40 Years
GMA congratulates California based Celebration Concerts and it’s founder Jon Robberson on 40 years of service to the Christian Music Community. Celebration Concerts has promoted over 1,500 concerts throughout California, Arizona and Nevada and was the founding producer of the annual Spirit West Coast festivals.
“God gave me an incredible gift and blessing when He put me in the Christian music business as a promoter. When I did my first shows in the late 1970’s I would have never thought I’d be promoting for the next 40 years,” said Jon, looking back.
Jon is also celebrating another 40 year milestone. When he first began “Celebration Concerts” he also took out a GMA Membership. He has been a consistent GMA member for the past 40 years. This makes him one of the GMA’s longest standing members.
“We celebrate Jon and the important work he has done these past 40 years! His faithfulness has led thousands upon thousands to Jesus. We are grateful for his dedication to our community and support of the GMA!” says GMA President Jackie Patillo.
Celebration Concerts’ earliest shows were with artists like Second Chapter of Acts, Sweet Comfort Band, Randy Stonehill and even B.J. Thomas. Through the years the Bay Area based ministry promoted most of the top concert acts of each era; Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, Sandi Patti, DC Talk and more recently MercyMe, Casting Crowns, Newsboys, Chris Tomlin and TobyMac. In 1997 Jon founded the Spirit West Coast festivals in Monterey and San Diego (2004) which became two of the country’s top annual festivals.
