(Los Angeles, CA) – Chicago Cubs prospect Chris Singleton (22) exchanged vows with his High School Sweetheart, Mariana De Andrade (21) in a beautiful ceremony in Charleston, SC during the broadcast of Lifetime’s My Great Big Live Wedding hosted by David Tutera.
After learning of the couple’s heart-wrenching experiences Tutera was on a mission to make their special day a memorable one. Chris’ mother (Sharonda Coleman-Singleton) was one of the nine lives taken at the Emmanuel AME Church massacre during Bible Study in 2016 and two years later unexpectedly his father passed away. The groom and his late mother were big fans of gospel singer, CeCe Winans. Winans sang “Blessed Assurance” before the exchanging of vows as well as the up-tempo, “Dancing in the Spirit” to kick off the reception. It made for a bitter-sweet moment because his mother, the matriarch of the family was not physically present to enjoy the celebration.
The bride’s exquisite dress was designed by David Tutera and named “Mariana” after the bride. While family and friends looked on it was hard to find a dry eye anywhere. The Singletons received a special toast by another special guest, Carl Edward Jr., from Chicago Cubs World Series Champions.
“It was an absolute honor to be part of such a special ceremony. Their story was a blessing to me,“ says Winans.
