Resolutions. Love them or leave them? No matter where you fall on the topic of New Year’s resolutions, it’s always intriguing to hear what people are promising to do differently in the future. Maybe I’m alone, but I always think it’s interesting to hear what people in the spotlight have to say. Their lives are perfect, right? Nope. They’re just regular folk fighting to be a better version of themselves (and Christ) everyday. So, check out what some of your favorite Gospel music artists have resolved for 2015 and let’s all be inspired to grow throughout the coming year:
“I recently figured out I’m creative at least 1 percent of my time awake each year. I’m gonna try and increase that to at least 5 percent this year. More would be even better!”
— Brandon Heath (www.brandonheath.net)
“I’ll be the first to admit that making New Year’s Resolutions seem chancy at best. But some practical ones I’ve embarked on for 2015:
– A daily devotional – Streams in the Desert: My wife and I are going to start each day with this devo. So far, so good. It’s like any other healthy routine, once the ball gets rolling, it has a life of it’s own.
– Thank God For Something: Yes, it’s a new song of Hawk Nelson’s – but it’s also a huge reminder for me to be thankful everyday. For the big wins, down to the most basic of needs being met. Our God is a good God, and He deserves all the thanks and glory.”
— Daniel Biro, Hawk Nelson (www.hawknelson.com)
“My resolution is to cultivate an attitude that is joyful, loving, and all around grateful for the gifts that life brings.”
— Deena, VERIDIA (www.veridiamusic.com)
“I would like to spend more time volunteering in service to others and read books more often.”
— Brandon, VERIDIA (www.veridiamusic.com)
“I’m working on kicking my soda habit. I’m also going to start budgeting better.”
— Kyle, VERIDIA (www.veridiamusic.com)
“My resolution is to be more intentional with loving others. It’s easy to ignore the problems of others when they don’t directly affect us, or to simply help out of obligation, but I want to make more of a genuine and tangible effort to aid those in need.”
— Trevor, VERIDIA (www.veridiamusic.com)
“My New Year’s resolution is to eat healthy. I’m a junk food junkie, but I’m going to stop that in 2015!”
— Lily Isaacs, The Isaacs (www.theisaacs.com)
“My New Year’s resolution for the year two thousand and fifteen would be to maintain as high a brain development rate as my two year old son, Micaiah. Year one, yeah – no problem…but year two seems to be presenting some real competition!”
— Matt, I Am They (www.iamtheyband.com)
“To maintain and protect the integrity and purpose of our ministry while still reaching and affecting lives through the power and influence of music. Not letting the stress and complications of a new life on the road sway the heart of what I am called to do, I hope to be in the same heart and mind next year, if not more in love with Jesus and my ministry than I am right now.”
— Stephanie Kulla, I Am They (www.iamtheyband.com)
“My 2015 goals are to: 1) memorize more Scripture, 2) grow as a songwriter and musician (aka continue teaching myself to play piano and ukulele), and 3) learn how to actually cook (beyond my perfected staples of salad and mac & cheese ;)).”
— Lindsay McCaul (www.lindsaymccaul.com)
“More reading, less red meat. Save more money, eat fewer cookies.”
— Jonathan McReynolds (www.jonathanmcreynolds.com)
“Eating healthier, spending more time in the Word and learning Scripture”
– 1 Girl Nation (www.1girlnation.com)
“This year I’m focusing on practicing the art of saying “no” to things that keep me from saying “yes” to things that keep me focused on my main objectives: my relationship with Jesus, my wife and kids, my career. For example, saying “no” to a few good musical opportunities say “yes” to one great one.“
