The entertainment industry showed their love and support for people displaced by recent devastating storms in Texas and Florida. The talent turned out in full-force for the Hand-In-Hand: A Benefit For Hurricane Relief that was aired on major networks and cable stations. Special appearances and performances aired live from Los Angeles, New York and Nashville.
Central City Productions will pay tribute to The Jacksons, Donnie McClurkin, Slick Rick, Guy, Oleta Adams and Jody Watley during the Black Music Honors, a live taping television special that will take place on Friday, August 18, 2017, at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) in Nashville, TN.
GRAMMY® winner Chris Tomlin brought the church together in unity and prayer throughout this spring with his Worship Night In America tour. Featuring Chris Tomlin, Big Daddy Weave, Phil Wickham and Zach Williams, the tour made 23 stops across the US, selling out arenas in major markets including Phoenix, Portland, Kansas City, and Seattle, while making history in Nashville as the largest ticketed Christian concert at Bridgestone Arena.
GMA Foundation’s annual GMA Honors celebration was held on Tuesday, May 9 at Lipscomb University. Steve Green, Yolanda Adams, Gold City Quartet and Michael Blanton and Dan Harrell were inducted into the GMA Gospel Music Hall of Fame. The event also honored individuals and organizations that are impacting our culture both past and present. This year’s honorees were Amy Grant for Helping Hands, Dr. Shirley Caesar for Shirley Caesar Outreach Ministries, Compassion International and Natalie Grant for Hope for Justice.
GRAMMY®-nominated Essential Records’ artist Zach Williams has just released a new music video for his song “Old Church Choir.” Also slated as the next single to go to radio, it is the follow-up to his recording-breaking No. 1 debut hit, “Chain Breaker,” which held the top spot at radio for 15 weeks. The video for “Old Church Choir,” filmed just outside of Nashville and filled with extras who came from all across the country to be part, can be viewed here.
NMAAM will start the June celebration of Black Music Month by hosting their fourth annual fundraising luncheon on June 1, 2017 at City Winery in Nashville. The luncheon honors icons that have made a tremendous impact on the music industry.
Rocketown, a faith-based youth outreach facility located in the heart of downtown Nashville, has announced Kenny Alonzo as their new Executive Director. With two decades of experience in serving the Nashville community through non-profit organizations, Alonzo will join the tenured programs and services Rocketown continues to provide to the youth of Nashville.
GRAMMY® winner Chris Tomlin’s first annual Good Friday Nashville event made history this past weekend with nearly 15,000 in attendance making it the largest ticketed Christian concert in Bridgestone Arena history. Held Friday, April 14, joining Tomlin were Big Daddy Weave, Zach Williams, best-selling author Max Lucado and surprise special guests Hillary Scott from Lady Antebellum singing her No. 1 hit “Thy Will,” as well as Matt Maher and Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam. Good Friday Nashville is set to return with Bridgestone already on hold for the next seven years.

This past weekend, Dove Award winner Ellie Holcomb made her debut on the stage that she’s dreamed of performing on her entire life, Nashville’s famed Grand Ole Opry. Performing two songs from her current release Red Sea Road, she was introduced to the stage by long-time Opry members The Whites.

Six-time GRAMMY® Award winner Amy Grant’s newly released Tennessee Christmas earned the No. 3 spot on Billboard’s Holiday Albums chart just behind top sellers Pentatonix and Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The debut comes ahead of Grant’s appearance on the Hallmark Channel’s “Home & Family: Home for the Holidays” airing on November 17, and a performance of the title track on the CMA’s Country Christmas airing on ABC November 28.
